Foods You Should Never Eat
by Mike Boyle
1. High Fructose Corn Syrup:
Consuming HFCS actually causes our bodies to grow fat cells and contributes to the early onset of diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. Traces of mercury have been found in almost half of the commercial HFCS used in the United States. So not only can HFCS make you fat, it can make you sick. HFCS in products are usually sign of poor quality, nutritionally depleted, processed foods full of empty calories and artificial ingredients. Its actually quite easy to stay away from HFCS. The best things to do are to stay away from fast foods, drinking soda’s and read the labels on the foods you eat. Stay away from HFCS if you want to stay healthy.
2. Partially Hydrogenated/ Hydrogenated oil:
Foods with partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oil pose’s a serious threat to your health and well being. Hydrogenated oils contain high levels of Trans fat. Trans fat are not at all good for ones health. Trans Fatty Acid work to increase LDL or Bad Cholesterol and they also decrease HDL or Good Cholesterol. Hydrogenated oils have been linked to diseases like diabetes and obesity. The problem with partially hydrogenated oils is that they will kill you in the long term, by producing diseases like multiple sclerosis, but in the meantime they will make you fat. Take the time to read the list of ingredients on the nutrition label before you buy. If you see hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil on the list, keep these these products away from you and your family.
3. Fried Foods:
Fried foods are unhealthy because they tend to be very high in fat and calories. The frying process adds tons of calories and fat grams to your meals. Frying foods also robs food of their nutrients. Many restaurants prepare fried foods using unhealthy artificial oils that contain Trans fat. They usually use partially hydrogenated oil as a cost saving measure. Partially hydrogenated oil contains Trans fat. You should avoid foods completely that contain Trans fat. Trans fats are simply too destructive to the heart.
4. Refined Sugars:
Sucrose in its refined form, when consumed is broken down by the body into glucose and other simpler sugars that are used by the body for producing energy. When this is done in small quantities, there is no real problem, but when sucrose is taken in and broken down into large amounts of simpler sugars, the blood gets a rush of these sugars which causes an imbalance in blood sugar levels. The more refined the sugar you eat is, the more likely your body will react negatively way to it. In this sense, blood sugar levels are constantly rising and falling sharply when you ingest too much sugar. When you eat to much sugar what happens is that you get a fast rush of energy from the sugar as it’s processed and released into the bloodstream. This is rapidly followed by a rapid drop in energy as the insulin does its work. Over time to much sugar puts a serious strain on your pancreas and insulin production becomes erratic, meaning that blood sugar levels can no longer be effectively regulated.
5. White Flour:
Most of the nutrients are removed in foods made with white flour. Refined white flour is produced from the whole wheat grain which is then subjected to the refining process which removes all traces of the husk, or bran and along with it all the goodness contained in the grain. This type of flour, also known as enriched wheat flour, has lost any nutritional value during processing and can actually cause more health problems if too much is consumed. The more white flour somebody eats, the more insulin has to be produced to managed it. Insulin promotes the storage of fat and makes way for rapid weight gain. Over time this could lead towards chronic diseases like hypoglycemia and diabetes.
